A missionary is an individual who is a member of a religious group sent to an area to do evangelism (Hale, 2003) or preach Christ, with the aim of winning souls for God. The word "mission" originates from the Latin word missionem (nom. missio), meaning "act of sending" or mittere, meaning "to send", and it was first used in 1598 when the Jesuits sent members abroad[1].

A Christian missionary is therefore a person who is sent to witnessed about Jesus Christ across cultures; or an indigenous Church planting movement (Lausanne Congress of 1974). Christian missionaries have been around since the earliest recorded writings of the New Testament (Anger, 2012). Christian missionary is based on the commission given by Jesus Christ, as recorded in Matthew  28:19,

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations...."; and Mark 16:15 posit that, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature".
